ShaolinSoccer A peak conclusion for an epic trilogy, absolute phenomenal and enriching. Saved the best for last.

H.L. MIDNIGHT ODYSSEY is easily recognizable amongst other atmospheric black metal bands: More epic, more ambient, and also Dis Pater's clean or rough vocals are different. My all-time favourite is still "Funerals from the Astral Sphere" (CD 1). Today, the songs often get lost in ambient soundscapes, but especially the last 5 tracks on "Biolume 3" are really excellent, with individual character. "The Last Day" seems to honour Enslaved's classic "Slaget I Skogen Bortenfor" in the raging passage. Cool! Favorite track: The Last Day.

Fishermang Dis Pater has outdone himself. This massive album is the best not only in the trilogy, but the whole discography in my opinion. To me it seems both more melodic and more aggressive, which I like a lot. Perfect soundtrack to listen to while reading The Expanse. Or, actually, just to be taken away into the massive depths of cosmic epicness whenever you want.

I don't know if you are reading this, Dis P, but I hope you never stop making music.

Tout comme le Soleil pouvait revêtir plusieurs symboliques dans The Golden Orb, la Lune est bien plus que ce qu'elle offre en apparence. Dis Pater est même carrément lunatique : son black metal atmosphérique est toujours sur la brèche. Toute extase contemplative peut se métamorphoser en enthousiasme fou puis en tourmente en l'espace d'un instant. Des intonations de la voix aux genres abordés, l'ambiguïté est de mise ! Favorite track: A Fullmoon Madness.

bonesbreakerone The final Biolume part has a bit of all previous Midnight Odyssey releases and creates one colossal 2 hour atmospheric journey across the stars. It has the most black metal since Firmament and is the current peak of Midnight Odyssey for me. Highly recommended to anyone interested in cosmic black metal!
